Accomplishments of Comet Sprint 56 / Daylight Sprint 28

  1. Discovery Integration
    1. We’ve done a lot of work to make the Superskunk codebase cleaner and reduce tech debt, centralizing authentication behaviours into a single location
    2. Added date filter API including complex date handling
  2. Discovery Development
    1. Across Goldengate, this sprint delivered several improvements to production readiness. With a focus on cleaner and more reliable UI behavior. Work included improving object downloads, IIIF behavior, updated documentation, and fixing bugs discovered in the UI. 
    2. Added a Date filter widget/facet to Goldengate
    3. Clarified requirements for full-text search
  3. Comet Migration Readiness
    1. The metadata displayed for file sets should now be the correct metadata for the reported file use
    2. A lot of work was done on extracted text, but it has turned out to be a thornier problem than initially anticipated
    3. Clarified requirements for complex object publishing/unpublishing and started implementation
    4. Fixed issues around controlled value enforcement
    5. Various Comet search improvements
  4. Infrastructure and Workflow Resilience
    1. Began holistic review of infrastructure and CI/CD workflow pain points
    2. Started upgrade to Solr 9
    3. [UCSB-GG] Implemented bot protection via AWS CloudFront
    4. Implemented a date-based versioning release system into our CI/CD process
